As the summer Sizzles, consuming Retail Sales

Back to school shopping was not early enough to propel sales retail significantly upwards in July, according to the Association of Retail (FIR) industry leaders.

For July, published today by the Department of Commerce monthly retail sales figures reported modest growth in July 2009, with sales of self exclusion retail sales up modestly compared with sales from the previous month.In general, retail sales increased 0.4 percent in July and increased 5.9 percent sales in July of 2009.Ventas retail with automatic exclusion and part of car sales expanded 0.2% in July and showed gains of 4.9 per cent compared to the previous year.

"Retailers continue to persevere in an uncertain economic environment, relying on cost rather than sales growth controls to maintain profitability," said FIR President Sandy Kennedy.

With almost all earnings that is focused on the automotive sector in July, retailers saw declines in almost all the categorías.Almacenes decreased from 1.0% in June, with clothes and accessories of clothing not far behind, dropping by ciento.Mobiliario 0.7 furniture and household and construction materials were down 0.3 percent.
